What Is Solar Energy?

If you’re thinking about adding a solar panel system to your home, your research may begin with where solar energy comes from, and how it can be used to heat, cool and light your home. Solar energy is energy that comes from the sun in the form of light and heat. A solar panel system creates electricity from the sun’s rays, and that electricity can be used to power your home. This clean and abundant power source can be used in the same way grid power is used to meet your home’s energy needs while reducing your carbon footprint, potentially decreasing your grid power dependency and possibly lowering your monthly electric bill.

How Do Solar Panels Make Solar Power?

Solar panels are made up of linked photovoltaic cells designed to capture the sun’s rays and convert them into electrical currents. Each photovoltaic cell contains a positive and negative layer that creates an electric field. When photons released from the sun interact with this electric field, electrical current is created.

That electrical current is then directed to your solar inverter. This device transforms the electricity created by your solar panels into usable electricity for your home. Electricity from the inverter is circulated throughout your home by your circuit panel. In some cases, solar panels may produce more electricity than your home needs. Excess electricity can be stored in a solar battery to be used during a grid failure.

Do Solar Panels Work In Any Climate?

At Pink Energy, our premium, monocrystalline solar panels are designed to maximize the efficiency of your home’s solar panel system, no matter where you live. The only input solar panels need to create electricity is sunlight. Even under cloud cover, sunlight is available. As long as your Pink Energy panels are clear of debris and exposed to sunlight, they will to produce solar energy for your home.

Why Is Solar Energy Important?

Solar energy is a clean, renewable power source that offers an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels, a nonrenewable resource. Because solar energy is created without burning fossil fuels or using water, a solar panel system can reduce air and water pollution and help you reduce your carbon footprint. Solar energy also allows you to own your home’s power and, if you’re able to store excess solar electricity in a battery, potentially lessen your dependence on a power company and possibly reduce your monthly electricity bill.

Can My Home Use Solar Energy?

At Pink Energy, we believe in optimizing your home’s energy consumption through energy-efficient upgrades designed to fit your life.
