How solar panels become an ‘essential’ part of your life

What do you spend monthly on items that are not essential to living? Chances are you have your own splurges, with eating out, cable TV and online shopping being among those. But did you know that the average American spends nearly $1,500 a month on nonessential items? That’s according to a survey of 2,000 Americans commissioned by Ladder and conducted by OnePoll, and that number adds up to nearly $18,000 annually.
Take a look at the chart published by USA Today that breaks down the categories:

For many of us, a food and drink spend of $750 a month like this chart shows seems exceptionally high, but the point remains that you have a choice in how you spend at least some of your money, whether it be for entertainment, comfort or convenience.
Solar panels at your home could be considered a nonessential spend since you don’t need them to have power. However, those who have them know how essential they become to living better lives, from both financial and environmental perspectives.
Power bills are one bill you will pay for as long as you live, because you pay power companies for the right to rent their power. You can’t own it – you simply use it for your home’s benefit. But here’s what’s great about solar energy. There is an end date to your solar payment, and when you reach that payoff date, the energy produced by your solar panels is completely free to you for the lifespan of your solar system.
In paying for solar panels, you shift some of your essential spending from your electric bill to pay for your panels. That’s spending you’d already be doing, so you’re not necessarily generating another bill. You just shift who you’re paying for your power. More of your money goes toward ownership of your solar system, and you benefit from all the power that your panels produce.
We haven’t even touched on the environmental benefits of solar panels. Instead of relying on power companies that generate most of their power through fossil-fueled sources, solar energy is carbon-free, which is a massive help in trying to curb climate change. Our solar panels are also American-made and come with a 30-year warranty. We’re proud to offer such quality products and install them with our own employees.
Once you reach the payoff point of your panels, think about how you can spend that extra money in enjoying the nonessential things that matter to you. Maybe it’s dining out more. Maybe it’s buying your children or grandchildren life experiences they wouldn’t otherwise get. Maybe you want to buy rights to watch every season of “Game of Thrones.” Whatever that trigger is, going solar can help you get there. On top of that, you are doing the right thing for the future of our world.
