100 percent renewable energy goal by 2030? U.S. voters respond

Many cities and states in the U.S. are already setting 100 percent renewable energy goals, as these locales see the value of replacing fossil-fueled energy sources with clean, carbon-free ones. Unsurprisingly, there is strong support for switching to clean energy, and for doing so on a timeline that’s even more aggressive than many cities and states have put forth.

A recent poll conducted by survey research company Morning Consult of 1,998 registered U.S. voters shows that two-thirds of those voters believe it is important for the U.S. Congress to commit to generating 100 percent of the nation’s power with clean, renewable sources in 10 years. Here’s a chart of the findings below, broken down by support by all voters and across party lines. You’ll note that the clean energy idea that achieved the greatest amount of support was a nebulous one of committing to “clean energy innovation across all energy technologies.” Among ideas with measurable goals, the commitment to 100 percent clean energy in 10 years had the highest amount of support.

While the support for clean energy is there, what’s also interesting is what it doesn’t say. As observed by pv magazine’s Christian Roselund, “The poll doesn’t ask whether or not voters support this idea, but rather whether it is important to addressing climate change.”

The value of clean, renewable energy

While there is definitely a difference between the two notions, we like seeing that these voters believe in the value of clean energy. The clean energy movement is happening across the United States, especially in the seven states where Pink Energy works. Through 2018, we’ve installed over 170,000 solar panels and have over 11,000 customers since beginning business in 2015, and our growth trajectory continues on an upward swing after entering Indiana earlier this year.

Not only does Pink Energy install solar panels for residential customers, it also has formally opened a commercial branch of operations to serve businesses as well. No matter the job, we do all the behind-the-scenes work in preparation for your install, and then our team of employees does the job in installing the solar panels too.
