Pink Energy donates food, clothing for Thanksgiving

December 1st, 2020 | By Chad McComas

Pink Energy recently organized two internal donation drives in advance of Thanksgiving aimed at helping those in need. With the weather getting colder and the holiday season kicking into gear, we wanted to support and give back to our communities. Our headquarters offices in Mooresville, NC, put together a food drive for FeedNC, a nonprofit focused on providing food to veterans, the elderly, working families, and those in need.  Meanwhile, our secondary headquarters office in Troy, MI, put together a warm-clothing drive supporting the Volunteers of America.

FeedNC feeds families for Thanksgiving

FeedNC, located in Mooresville, typically serves approximately 150 people each day and distributes around 1,000 meals each week. The organization has found that needs are up this year because of the effect COVID-19 has had on the economy.

FeedNC was the perfect fit for us to help given its location, and with over 450 volunteers, its passion for helping out those less fortunate is inspiring. Pink Energy employees gathered together to donate over 350 pounds of food to FeedNC.

This Thanksgiving, FeedNC served Thanksgiving meals to over 500 families. The volunteers put together Thanksgiving food boxes that contained all of the essentials for the holiday. However, FeedNC does far more than just provide food for those in need. It also helps those in need find work.

“FeedNC does all kinds of programming within the community,” said Lara Ingram, Executive Director of FeedNC. “We have a 12-week culinary job training program. People come in and spend 12 weeks in the kitchen with our chef. They learn the necessary skills to be employed in food service. We then assist them with locating jobs after they have graduated the program after the 12 weeks.”

VoA helps various communities for the holidays

Volunteers of America (VoA) has contributed to helping over 1.5 million people in over 400 communities each year. Operating in 46 states with over 16,000 employees and over 55,000 volunteers, VoA has hundreds of human service programs and is determined to bring good to the community.

As winter descends upon the Detroit area, employees at our office in Troy came together to donate 35 coats, two dozen pairs of socks along with gloves, boots, and sweaters. VoA offers many ways for you to help your community. Click here to learn more.

Pink Energy’s philanthropic efforts in 2020

Pink Energy has involved itself in community philanthropy throughout 2020. In October, the company ran an internal GoFundMe for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in which it raised more than $10,000 for the nonprofit organization.

In June, Pink Energy donated a 20-panel solar system to Marine Master Gunnery Sergeant Marcelino Marquez and his family as a part of the Lifetime TV show, “Military Makeover.” This was Pink Energy’s second time participating on Military Makeover, the first being in 2018.

Other notable philanthropic efforts include donating thousands to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Gobble Gobble Give, Toys for Tots, and Ace & TJs Grin Kids.

Pink Energy encourages others to join forces in their communities to help make a difference this holiday season. Small acts can add up significantly.
