Pink Energy’s Jayson Waller among Charlotte’s 2020 Most Admired CEOs

February 12th, 2020 | By Roger Kuznia

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jayson Waller is someone who thinks nonstop about Pink Energy. No matter the time of day, this CEO is always envisioning ways to build a bigger, better company for his 800-plus employees. Pink Energy’s rapid growth and success showcase the impact he’s made, and these accomplishments have led him to being named one of Charlotte’s 2020 Most Admired CEOs by the Charlotte Business Journal.

These awards recognize established local leaders who have a strong vision for their companies, have shown commitment to culture in the workplace and made significant contributions to the Charlotte community. Honorees were selected by the CBJ’s editorial team.

What Jayson Waller has built at Pink Energy

Waller and his team have built an energy efficiency company that serves customers in nine states and came just shy of generating $200 million in revenue in 2019. Pink Energy opened three of those new markets in 2019 in adding Missouri, Illinois and Indiana to its roll call, and it also added a commercial division to best serve business customers across its footprint.

Pink Energy was ranked No. 100 on the Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America in 2019, the second time in three years that the company has made the top 100 of that prestigious list. The company also made a significant leap in the Solar Power World residential rooftop solar contractor rankings, rising six spots to No. 6 in 2019.

“I am very proud of what this award means for me and for our team, as it validates the work that all of our employees put in every day,” Waller said. “We are truly building something transformative, and every day is an opportunity to get better. Our motto is BAM – Building A Movement. We do that one solar panel, one customer, and employee at a time.”

Waller has won several awards since the beginning of 2019, a list that includes being named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2019 Southeast Award winner in the Emerging Services category. His company also has won several other awards in the Charlotte area in recent months, including being named one of the Charlotte Observer’s Top Workplaces for 2019, and it was ranked No. 5 on the Charlotte Business Journal’s Fast 50 list of the fastest-growing private companies.

Waller and the other recipients of this Most Admired CEOs Award will be honored at a celebration in downtown Charlotte on March 25. Congratulations Jayson!
