What Amazon’s ambitious renewable energy goals mean for you

Amazon is the world’s largest retailer, so anything that it does can make someone stand up and take notice. The company’s new commercial that promotes its sustainability and renewable energy efforts sure caught Pink Energy’s eye. Watch the 30-second ad, and consider the impact Amazon is making as a leader in renewable energy and sustainability.

Among the five items described in the commercial, we call attention to two of them. The first — Amazon plans to power its operations with 100 percent renewable energy by 2025. That timeline is five years faster than what the company projected last September. The second item is Amazon’s announcement of funding a $2 billion Climate Pledge Fund that will support companies “whose products and services will facilitate the transition to a zero carbon economy.” That’s a MASSIVE incentive for companies to chase, and it signals the importance of everyone doing their part to reduce their carbon footprint.

Increased carbon dioxide emissions are known to cause global warming. In fact, NASA notes that levels of CO2 have risen by more than one-third since the Industrial Revolution began. Those increasing emissions come from the burning of fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas to create electricity for our homes. Gas-powered vehicles also pump CO2 into the air. Deforestation and land use changes also have damaging effects.

Follow Amazon’s example by going solar

Amazon’s push to be a leader in renewable energy and sustainability provides a great lesson – we all need to think about the impact we make on the environment. Change can start at your home or business through the installation of solar panels. Solar panels can potentially reduce your electric bills and your carbon footprint.

Pink Energy’s mission is to accelerate the transition to clean energy use. We are ready, willing and able in the 10 states we serve to do just that. We share Amazon’s commitment to do the right thing!

If you’d like to join the movement of potentially reducing your carbon footprint, reach out to Pink Energy at (877) 4-GO-Pink to see whether solar may be right for your home or business. If Amazon can do it, so can you.
